I was excited to receive an email from Google this afternoon stating that I had been accepted into the Google for Education Certified Trainer Program !  Eeeeeeeee! Having completed the exams and the application process by the June 7th deadline, I wasn't expecting to hear back for another week or so as Google stated we would hear something within 4-6 weeks.  So imagine my surprise in seeing this email in only two weeks!  I am beyond thrilled! You can view the official letter from Google here (click image for downloadable PDF copy): I'm honored to be acknowledged as an Authorized Google for Education Certified Trainer !  I look forward to all this opportunity has to bring.  And as I said before... Exciting News! District 15 Chromebook 1:1 Integration Coming 2017-2018! Are You Ready?

Technology represents a powerful and motivating tool that educators can use to teach, model, and reinforce today's essential skills to students.  As a result, Community Consolidated School District 15 will issue a Chromebook to all students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades beginning in the fall of 2017-2018 according to their website . Students will be able to use their individual, district-issued, Chromebooks to access Google Apps for Education which are free learning tools that foster collaboration, exploration, and content creation. See how school district CCSD15 is preparing to meet this challenge . Also, if you are an educator and need additional resources, please check out my Google Classroom page where you will find additional helpful resources I've pulled together to help make the transition a bit easier, or you can access this Google Hyperdoc to see the same information. And as always, if you have any questions feel free to contact me. I'll be glad t

"WHO AM I?" Chromebook Lesson was a Hit!

Image
This is an actual exercise I created and used in an elementary classroom setting.  It was a hit with the kids and teachers.  The students had lots of fun with it because it allowed them to be creative and work independently as well as collaborate when needed. When I originally modeled this lesson in class, I used a projector to show my Chromebook screen to let the kids “follow me” by as I prompted them what to do verbally. I now want to add this lesson to my training website, along with a video of me modeling the exercise for the teacher.  I decided to create a Multimedia Text Set (MMTS) so that other teachers can use the same lesson in their classrooms and the MMTS will guide them through each step. I’m exploring creating the MMTS in SLIDES as I believe it has more options for design than DOCS. Check back often as I am still working on getting this in a format that will be shareable with everyone. Here are the links to the documents as the

The Final Step!

WOW!  What a journey this has been! I am excited to announce that I finally completed all the requirements to apply to become a Google Certified Trainer !  This is big BIG deal for me. I've been talking about becoming certified for over a year now.  Although I've been working with G Suite on the business side since 2007, I did not know about the  Google for Education and Google for NonProfits  programs until recently.  Once I started looking into what these programs had to offer, I realized what a great tool this would be for so many who don't even know these tools exist.  I wanted to help spread this knowledge and offer my expertise in any way possible, while building my personal knowledge and skills of the applications as well.  One day during one of my volunteer visits at my son's school, I casually asked the Principal if they used G Suite for Education and when she said yes it was music to my ears!  This set me on the journey to become a Google Certified Ed
